11:11 PM. São Paulo, Brazil. A community center.
It was 30°C outside.
Inside: 0°C.
Frost on the walls. Breath visible.
In the center: Table 3.
White. Blue rim. Frozen solid.
4 chairs. Covered in ice.
On the table: 4 guitars. All strings snapped.
And sitting on the table: The Cold.
A tall shadow. Blue skin. No heartbeat.
Wherever it looked, warmth died.
Fritz: shivering "10/10 hate this already."
Miri: "I can’t feel my fingers."
Alex: "My guitar’s frozen."
Umi: "It eats warmth. So we bring our own."
The book on their table was frozen too.
Umi breathed on it. One line appeared:
_Table 3 Authors: Frozen.
Last entry: "It took our music.
Now it’s taking our heat."_
The Tokyo Authors were with them now.
The short-haired girl, Hana, wrote on a note:
"We can help. We’re not cold anymore."
The Cold looked at them.
The room got 10 degrees colder.
The Tokyo Authors started shaking.
Umi: "Okay. Sound didn’t work in Tokyo.
Heat won’t work here.
So we use... memory."
She pulled out the Pen, String, Lens.
All 3 were glowing orange now.
Plan:
Umi: writes warm memories
Miri: sings them inside her head - no sound needed
Alex: plays by remembering the feeling of music
Fritz: takes photos with the Lens - of warmth
Hana + Tokyo team: add their own
Minute 1-3: They remember
Umi writes: Summer. 40°C. Grandma’s kitchen. Bread.
Miri: remembers her mom’s lullaby. No sound. Just feeling.
Alex: remembers the first chord he ever played. Fingers burned.
Fritz: through the Lens sees: 4 Brazilian authors laughing at a table.
He draws it.
The ice on Table 3 cracked.
The Cold hissed. Walked toward them.
Where it stepped, the floor froze.
Minute 4-7: They share
The Tokyo Authors put their hands on the table too.
Hana wrote: Ramen. Hot. With friends.
Another: First concert. Sweating. Happy.
The 4 frozen guitars on Table 3 started to glow.
Strings repaired themselves.
Minute 8-10: The Turn
Umi: slammed the Pen down. "YOU DON’T GET TO TAKE THIS."
All 8 of them pushed warmth into the table.
The table exploded with light. Orange, gold, red.
The ice shattered.
The Cold screamed. No sound.
It grabbed its chest.
Inside: 4 frozen people. The São Paulo Authors.
The warmth hit them.
They gasped. Melted. Fell to the floor. Alive.
The Cold collapsed into frost and evaporated.
Heat returned. 30°C again.
The community center came back to life.
Outside: music started. Real music.
The 4 São Paulo Authors stood. Crying.
Leader: a guy with a beanie. He hugged Umi.
Didn’t speak. Just: obrigado.
A 11th chair appeared at The Authors’ table in Salem.
The Book: _Table 3: Saved.
1 Table Left: Lagos._
